What is exempt development?

This is development which has minimal environmental impact and does not require development consent, as long as it satisfies certain requirements detailed in Development Control Plan No. 6.

Some examples of these include a machinery or hay shed within rural zones, if it is no larger than 120 square metres, no higher than 6 metres and not closer than 4 metres to the side boundaries. You must make an assessment against the exemption requirements as set out in DCP No. 6.
