Anzac Day around the region

Remembrance services are being held around the region on Anzac Day, Tuesday 25 April.

In Braidwood, the RSL Sub Branch will hold both a dawn service and a mid-morning march. The dawn service commences at 6am at the memorial flag pole in Ryrie Park. A Gunfire Breakfast will follow at the Servicemen’s Club from 6.45am. The mid-morning march will commence at 10.30am assembling outside D&S Motors and will be followed by a service at Ryrie Park. From 5am to 6.45am and 10am to 12.30pm, Wallace Street from Wilson to Lascelles Streets and Wilson Street from Park Lane to Wallace Street will be closed.

Local ceremonies will also be held in Majors Creek at 8am and Araluen at 9am.

The Bungendore War Memorial Committee will host the dawn service and main march at the Bungendore War Memorial on Gibraltar Street. The dawn service commences at 6am and the main service at 10.40am. Serving and ex-serving RAAF personnel will be hosting the service this year. From 5.30am to 7am Gibraltar Street from Majara St to the Police Station will be closed. From 10am to 12.30pm Gibraltar Street from Molonglo St to Majara St will be closed.

The Captains Flat Section 355 Committee will host a mid-morning parade commencing at the corner of Foxlow Street and Braidwood Road and proceeding to the Cenotaph for the service. From 9am to 12.45pm, Captains Flat Road from Miners Road to Foxlow Street and Foxlow Street from Captains Flat Road to Braidwood Road will be closed. This includes closures at the intersections with Kurrajong Street and Wattle Avenue.

The Jerrabomberra Hotel will be conducting a dawn service at the permanent memorial stone in the carpark at Jerrabomberra Shops. The carpark on the western side of the Hotel will be closed for the event. A barbecue will be provided by Rotary Jerrabomberra following the service.

In Queanbeyan, the City of Queanbeyan RSL Sub Branch and Queanbeyan Legacy will hold a dawn and mid-morning march. The marches commence in front of the RSL Club on Crawford Street and proceed along Crawford Street, onto Monaro Street halting at the Cenotaph on Lowe Street. At the conclusion of the services, the marchers about face and return on the same route back to the RSL Club. The dawn march commences at 5.30am and the mid-morning march commences at 10.20am.

Road closures in Queanbeyan are from 5am to 6.15am and 9am to 11.30am. The roads affected are the full width of Monaro St between Crawford and Lowe Streets, Farrer Place between Lowe Street and Cameron Road, Crawford Street between Rutledge and Monaro Streets, Lowe Street south bound from Monaro Street and Lowe Street car park entrance and Lowe Street north bound between Monaro and Cooma Streets.
