Temporary closure of Charleyong Bridge on Nerriga Road

Last modified: September 20, 2009 - 9:12 AM

The Roads and Traffic Authority has begun essential bridge maintenance work on Charleyong Bridge, over the Mongarlowe River, north of Braidwood on the Nerriga Road.

The bridge will be closed to traffic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only from 29 September to 11 December 2009 between 8.30 am to 3.30 pm.

The school bus will be able to cross the bridge on both trips every school day.

Emergency services will also be able to cross the bridge when required.

No work will be carried out on the bridge during the October school holidays.

A detour will be in place from Braidwood via Charleys Forest Road (Mongarlowe Road) up to the intersection with the Nerriga Road at Wog Wog, then continuing on to the Nerriga Road.

Motorists coming from Goulburn are advised to use the detour via Braidwood Road and the Kings Highway.
