Regional Telecommunications Review
The Regional Telecommunications Independent Review Committee (RTIRC) is calling for submissions on regional telecommunications standards.
The RTIRC was established by the Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999 earlier this year. The Committee has released a discussion paper and is now calling for written submissions to be made by 31 October 2007.
The Telecommunications (Consumer Protection and Service Standards) Act 1999 requires regular reviews to be undertaken as part of the Federal Government's strategy for providing certainty for people in regional, rural and remote Australia that improvements in the telecommunications services that are significant to them will keep pace with the rest of the nation.
In addition to conducting public consultations with regional communities across Australia, the committee will consider written submissions on the discussion paper, which is available from the Review's website. The terms of reference for the review are included in the discussion paper. Submissions should include a completed cover sheet and may be lodged by:

As the lack of adequate telecommunications services is an extremely important issue in our area, Palerang Council urges members of its community to lodge a submission by the due date.
