Australia Day 26 January 2008

Plans are underway to celebrate Australia Day on Saturday, 26 January 2008 throughout Palerang.

The Australia Day Council has advised that the Australia Day Ambassadors for Palerang are

  • endurance swimmer, James Pittar, for Captains Flat and Bungendore
  • Radio 2UE Sydney presenter, John Stanley, for Braidwood

Part of the celebrations will be the presentation of awards in each of Braidwood, Bungendore and Captains Flat in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year

Nominations are now invited for these awards and will close at 5.00pm on Monday, 14 January 2008. Nomination forms including full details of the awards are available from Council's offices in Bungendore (10 Majara St) and Braidwood (144 Wallace St), and may also be downloaded from Council's website by clicking on "Community Services" on the home page, then "Australia Day 2008".

Completed nominations should be returned to Council in an envelope marked "Confidential - Australia Day 2008 Nomination", addressed to the General Manager, Palerang Council, PO Box 348 Bungendore NSW 2621. They will be assessed by the Palerang Cultural Development Committee.
