Queanbeyan-Palerang roads given boost in NSW Government budget

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council is excited to announce that the NSW Government has supplied funding for important arterial roads in Queanbeyan-Palerang.

“When Queanbeyan and Palerang were merged, the need for funding for our road network was immediately apparent. I have been lobbying the state and federal governments for further funding and am extremely pleased to see that Nerriga Road and Old Cooma Road in particular have received significant funding in this year’s state budget,” Council Administrator, Tim Overall said.

“The funding will see the duplication of Old Cooma Road from the Edwin Land Parkway intersection through to Googong and includes an intersection upgrade at Googong Dam Road. The funding for Nerriga Road will see unsealed sections constructed, realigned and sealed and some sealed sections rehabilitated.”

“The NSW government is supplying a $70m roads package, with $38m for works to begin this year and ongoing roadworks into 2018-19.”

The budget also included funding for improvements in Bungendore at the intersection of Molonglo St/Malbon St, funding for the Charleyong Bridge, the Lanyon/Tompsitt Drive intersection upgrade and the Ellerton Drive Extension construction.
