Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council approved funding of $17,500 towards the 2017 Shop Local campaign in Bungendore and Braidwood.
“Shopping local benefits your community. This campaign will give even more incentive to shop locally and also for your Christmas gifts,” Council Administrator, Tim Overall said.
“Council is driving this campaign in an effort to support local businesses. This project is part of Council’s strategic direction of a diverse, resilient and smart economy that creates choice and job opportunities.”
Local businesses will register to participate in the campaign and shoppers will receive a ticket in the draw by spending a minimum of $20 with any of the registered businesses. A prize pool of $10,000 in each town will be offered as prizes, with four winners from each town.
Prizemoney can only be re-spent in the town, so all investment will be retained within the local town.
The campaign is partnered with the Bungendore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bungendore and Braidwood Community Banks and businesses in Bungendore and Braidwood.
